Overview
Lupron is an injection
used in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer or recurrent
prostate cancer after failure of primary treatment. Testosterone
feeds prostate cancer (like adding fuel to a fire) and Lupron
acts to stop the production of testosterone .
These injections are given every 3-4 months depending on the
size of the depot. The injection is administered in the hip. Hot
flashes may be a side effect of these injections, but will
usually subside after 2-3 months.
